Rocky Mountain Bicycles has been designing, developing, and perfecting mountain bikes in and around the North Shore of Vancouver, British Columbia since 1981. Reporting to the R&D Director, your main responsibilities will be to design, develop, and validate mechanical products (including bicycle frames and components), ensuring their performance, manufacturability, and compliance with technical requirements throughout the product development cycle, from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
Design and develop bicycle frames and components, including concept development, 3D modeling, and technical drawings.
Manage product performance, cost, and weight targets.
Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, Operations, suppliers, and manufacturing teams.
Perform suspension design and finite element analysis (FEA).
Support research and product development initiatives.
Validation & Prototyping
Plan and coordinate prototype builds.
Organize laboratory and field testing.
Validate products against technical and performance requirements.
Production & Quality
Prepare technical documentation (BOMs, drawings, and work instructions for factories).
Support product integration into the ERP system and production launch.
inspect and validate parts and assemblies by checking against drawings and build specifications
Work with suppliers to ensure product quality and compliance.
Identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with PTC Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) or similar 3D CAD software.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Passion for mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the bicycle industry.
Knowledge of mountain bike components and compatibility.
Hands-on bicycle mechanic experience.
Experience with CAD surfacing.
Experience with composite materials and manufacturing.
Industrial design experience.
